Fitness Tips For Busy Mums

Fitness Tips For Busy Mums

There’s no denying it, #mumlife is hard work!

Holding one of the most important jobs of all can come with challenges, and sometimes, self-neglect as you put the wellbeing of your loved ones first. But it’s important to remember, sis, that you cannot give from an empty cup. If you’re not doing something for you and implementing self-care then it becomes harder to be the best version of yourself.

We understand a mum’s list of things to do never ends; from middle of the night feeds, laundry, packing school lunches, to footy games on the weekend. And even when you do manage to squeeze in some down time, exercising is probably the last thing you feel like doing!

However, exercise is so important not only for the health benefits, but also its large impact on a busy mum’s productivity, and mental health.

Incorporating even just a few of these tips can only make your life easier, happier, and healthier in the long run!

We got you, mama!

Schedule your workouts

Plan ahead and write your workout in your calendar to ensure you have an allocated non-negotiable time for them in your busy week. Plan ahead to stay ahead!

Meal plan and meal prep

Plan your meals for the week ahead using a Meal Prep Planner so you don’t waste time or energy on deciding what to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday. Then, meal prep, meal prep, meal prep! Grab some containers, whip up bulk of your favourite, healthy meals, and stress no more! It’s easier than you think, sis - check out our guide on How To Meal Prep Like A Boss here

Include the kids in your workouts

Not only do kids love to be active, but they love to be involved! Allow them to join you for a bodyweight workout, a jog, or a walk. Or, why not join in on their activities? Head out to the park or backyard to play a game of tag so you can make memories and burn calories at the same time. It’s a win-win!

Don’t compare yourself to others

You are not the 20-year-old fitness model you scrolled past on Instagram. You are YOU and that is your superpower, sis. Take away the expectation and just focus on YOU, and what this journey means to you. It’s about feeling liberated and being the best version of yourself. Comparison is the thief of joy so don’t compare yourself or your journey to someone else’s, instead focus on your goals and happiness and what works for YOU. You got this, sis!

Be kind to yourself

You are the best mum in the world to your kids, don’t forget that! Taking time to focus on you, your goals, health, fitness and wellbeing is the kindest thing you can do for yourself and your loved ones. Take pride in the progress you’re making and always give yourself the love you deserve. If you need a little daily reminder, these self-love stickers are a perfect way to show yourself who’s BOSS.

Reach out for support if needed

If you don’t know where to start on your fitness journey, or if you feel you need some encouragement and motivation, reach out to friends, loved ones, or a fitness community. We’re always available for our BOD Babes so reach out to us anytime on our socials, in our Facebook group, or via email.

Exercise while the kids are asleep

This one may seem obvious but utilise that quiet time for YOU. Often when the kids lay their heads down, us mums tend to want to do the same. However, this is the ideal time to get your body moving, reenergise and enjoy time to work on you. Push yourself - you’ll thank yourself after.

Don’t overthink it

It doesn’t need to be an epic achievement of greatness, it needs to be a pursuit of happiness and physical health. If you only have 30 minutes, you only have 30 minutes. Don’t fret because you can’t make it to the gym, your home is the perfect space to workout anytime, anywhere! Save the energy of overthinking for the workout!

Remember, sis, you CAN do it and results WILL happen. Take each day as it comes - meal by meal, workout by workout. If you miss a workout or two, don’t beat yourself up! Get back up and keep going, Queen.
